Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T4 transporter TDI Auto

    Hi
I'm the proud new owner of a t4 transporter Tdi auto 2.5L
I have one problem with the van and that is the auto occasionally plays up. It has once slipped out of drive completely and also while cruising at 100km/h it revs at 2800rpm but often seems to rev at 3200rpm. i should also mention that the selector is slightly funky. It can be in drive & then I can push it almost into the neutral position while the trans is still in drive...
I was wondering weather anyone could give me some advice on this?

When I had mine it used to rev at 2600rpm at 110km/h. Top gear is locked[no slip] so there could be a problem with the TC. Have someone check for any stored codes in the computer.
    BTW, welcome to the forum.

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Thanks for the advice Jets. I'll get it checked out and also get the auto serviced. One question, What is TC?

I think changing it to a manual is a last resort!
