Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • V6 Amarok? Soon? Real even?

Well, as a newbie I suppose I should say hi.

I have a few VW family cars, Audi 4.2 TDI 2010, Skoda RS TDI 2010, VW Transporter 2.5 T5, and I have others in the past.

This post is more about asking if anyone else has heard the rumours of the Toureg V6 TDI/8speed being released in Australia?

I like the Amarok, I am looking at a Ultimate, (I have looked at the Ford Ranger Wildtrack (can't get one until Nov 2013!!, Mazda BT-50 GT (hate the gay look), Nissan Narava ST-X 550 (great motor, not so 'new' looking and crap interior)), but that motor, as much as I love it in my Skoda, it's just nothing compared to the competition, especially the ST-X 550. If they had the option of the TDI V6 in the range, it would already be ordered, but I'm not parting with a dollar for what it provides right now.

People say it's competent as it is. Yep, it is. But so?! I want more. I want bragging rights, I want something that I can get in and feel the urge, chuck something heavy on the back and not only know it will pull it, but do it easy. The 420 motor, doesn't. For that matter, why is that I can't have the choice? If I want the bigger, more powerful motor, then why not. If some one else, doesn't, fine, they don't....

    Sorry, starting to rant!!

Anyway, has anyone else heard of the possibility of the V6 coming. I would pay probably a few K more for it than the competition. With the ST-X 550 coming in at $68k on-road, I'd probably pay up to the early $70's to get my butt in the seat...

    Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum mate. Yes, it's ridiculous to put Golf engine into the Amarok, what is even worst they use the same in the Crafter.

I'm waiting for the V6 Amarok as well and in a couple of years or more, I will have to replace my 2005 T5 4Motion and I don't think that I will buy the current 2.0L TDI.

    So, the rant is justified!

Welcome to the forum. I'm also hanging out for this to happen. VW are really trying to consolidate parts but as Transporter said, it's ridiculous.
