Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Everyone,

Picked up a fully optioned DPB R32 6sp Manual a couple of months ago. Mild mods so far. Looking forward to contributing in the future to the forum.

Very nice mate, ive worked on a couple this week and i have nice Black Mk5 3 dr at home with me at the moment, it might be for sale and it would be mines if i could have a hint of being able to own it,It would complement my 4Mo wagon nicely! Ive been with VW since 88 mate and these are in a class of their own and even more so now as they have been discontinued.

Thanks Jmac. I could have got an R but decided on the R32 for old school reasons. It had to be blue, it had to be manual, it had to be fully optioned, it had to be a 5 door, and it needed to have low kms. Took about 1 year to find it.

It's not about the power, it's about the driving experience. I might look you up for some specialist serving. I've got a vag-com some can troubleshoot most things myself.

Welcome aboard Glen. Congratulations on the purchase of the R32

Did you purchase this off Andrew? I recognised those sharp looking OZ Racing Superturismos

          Yes Robbie, I did.

Have added a 9W7 bluetooth unit since and have a diesel geek shortshifter to go on it.

The wheels look good but take a while to clean due to the multi spokes.

You have definitely sold me on the Superturismos, they look awesome and are a perfect image for the R32. Could you link me where you purchased your 9W7 Bluetooth kit because I am looking at getting one as well as a MDI kit to complement it.

            Looks the part Glen!

I'm glad you like the wheels Robbie. It's got coilovers as well but I needed to wind them up higher than what Andrew had them. Roads must be rougher in Brissie than Melbourne ..... haha Drop is good now though.

Bluetooth is here VW Bluetooth KIT 7P6035730J - Retrofit - . Ordered it on a Monday and delivered from Fedex on the Friday. Not bad from Poland !!!

You'll need a vagcom to code it into the system. I still need to do my steering wheel button coding but the RNS510 touch screen works fine and everyone says it's really clear with the mic. Took me about 3 hours to install the hardware and I mounted the foam box under the driver's seat. Vagcom coding is pretty quick - let me know if you need help.

Is the microphone already wired up in our cars or did you buy that separately? Is there a mounting point for the Bluetooth module under the seat? Or did you just fix it to the floor carpet because I have seen some pretty rough and not neat VW Bluetooth installs that I think "oh dear".

Appreciate the tips and help G.

The Foam holding "case" comes with velcro on the bottom of it so it 'fixes" to the carpet under the seat. Have a look at the Install photos I took here

I'd recommend some good dash tools to remove the components safely. I used a set from Jaycar. The Mic comes with the kit and installs neatly hidden behind the small plastic grill in the overhead console. To be honest, the only way you can tell it has bluetooth installed is to look under the driver's seat. My Samsung S3 partners up instantly and can stream music, reads the phonebook as well as call logs. A great solution for $300 odd.

Haha I bought the Jaycar trim tools set a few months ago and I couldn't be any happier with them. That's awesome that means they will come handy for the Bluetooth install. I might even post up a DIY when I'm finish that way others can follow a step by step guide without any hassles or issues they come across.

When I get it would you mind being of any assistance if I have trouble installing it Glen? Would be greatly appreciated
