My name is Jim McIlvaine and I am the eCare Manager for Optima Batteries. I noticed someone was selling used Optima batteries in your classified section and I wanted to offer some assistance to potential buyers on how to correctly identify the date of manufacture. Unfortunately, I need 10 posts and a period of time to participate, so perhaps someone here can share this information:
All Optima batteries have a white, 1"x3" Non-Spillable label on the side of the battery with a serial number. The batteries being sold in that thread were claimed to have been manufactured in September 2012. All of the batteries we manufactured in September of this year will have serial numbers on that label that start with a series of four digits between 2245 and 2274. If the batteries do not have a serial number that starts within that sequence of numbers, they were not manufactured in September of 2012. If anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
