Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • From MINI Cooper R53 to Polo GTI

    Hi all,

Been in the MINI community for a while now, enjoyed all the support from MINI forums and especially the handling and the connection to the road of the car. However, a few "problems" that we like to call it characteristic of the car started to appear, so it's time to move on to the VAG forum. Test drove the MY12.5 Polo GTI quite a while back and felt great, not the same greatness as the MINI R53, but has more power from the factory and definitely, not as thirsty as the Cooper S.

Handling can be a little rolly polly at the twisty bits , and when pushed hard - a little understeery, not bad thing if you are not in the mood of handling the lift off oversteer of the MINI, but I think I can get rid of the understeer, by fitting a camber plate on the front (more negative camber, maybe -2), adjust the toe and hopefully i can get less camber on the rear (0 or -0.5), plus an ARB will cure the understeer.

Gonna get the delivery of the Red Polo GTI soon, then the modification will start to get rolling and hopping to get some advice from of you VW enthusiasts like all of you.

    Cheers
2012 Polo GTI MY12.5 - Weitec Hicon GT - Whiteline Front Control arm - lower inner rear bushing (caster correction) - Whiteline Rear Sway Bar

To do: Lightweight wheels - Adj. Front Camber
