Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD New Multivan

Just bought a new Comfortline Multivan which is about to be modified with a wheelchair loader at the back to accommodate my wife in her wheelchair.
We are hoping this will give us back some of the freedom we lost when she was confined to the wheelchair.

I have taken possession of the vehicle and when I asked for a price on tinting I was quoted $695 fro a 'dark tint' (whatever that means) through the dealership. Does this represent good value for this vehicle or would I be better off going through an independent provider. I don't want to have a cheap job done but neither do I want to be overcharged because the dealer gets a cut

Any recommendations in the Brisbane area of good reputable companies who may have experience with this actual model.

Thanks in advance and apologies if this post is in the wrong place.

For window tint you are better off going with an independent tint provider.

I used Master Tint nad they were very cost competitive and i had no issue with their workmanship.

$695 is way overprice mate. Don't do it look in your local directory and get another quote dealer will overcharge you if you allow them. Good luck and hope you enjoy your ride.

Have now had the vehicle back with the wheelchair lifter installed. Cannot be happier and can't speak highly enough of the people at Auto Extras in Herston a really professional job.

The dealer usually sends it to an independent tinter anyway. Or rather, the independent tinter goes to the dealership whenever they need work done, and then goes back to their normal business afterwards.

But I think $695 is a lot of money for a tint, but that's my 2cents
