  • SA Slinz AKA Tom, hoping to get in a Golf!

    Hey VWW crew,

Name's Tom, from Adelaide and looking at some Golfs! It'll be my second VW, as I owned a really awesome 1970 Type-3 Fastback for my first car. I've come from OzVR4 forums so not new to the whole car forum thing.

My car is (or was) a quite heavily modified Mitsubishi Legnum pumping out about 200 awkw - I took the plunge and sold it this week so the hunt for a new ride is well and truly on.

I'm looking to "downsize" to something a bit more fuel-friendly since I'm driving further now and the Legnum is costing too much.

So far a Mk V Golf is leading the way - my price range is not quite up to scratch for the newer models and I have always liked the Mk V's.
Similarly, my price range doesn't bring me into the exciting world of the GTI, so I'm exploring the other options at the moment.

If there are already threads comparing the range of differences etc. then link away, because that'd be awesome.
Currently looking at TDI, GT, FSI. Most in my range seem to be 'comfortline' although I've read that 'sportline' comes with plenty more goodies standard...not really sure where I stand! Have already spent a lot of time here trawling through the information about head units and diesel engines and plenty more.

Anyway, thanks in advance and hopefully these forums can be as fruitful as the VR4 forums were for me and my previous car.

      Thanks mate.

No that wasn't me, their numbers are growing locally though! I can definitely see them devaluing as the market gets flooded with cheap crappy examples by dodgy import dealers.
