Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys

Came from a My99 Wrx to my new car Mk5 GTI

Compared to the wrx its quicker off the line easier to live with everyday and alot more refined
In saying that i miss AWD and the boxer rumble! Oh and boost till redline
Planning to take my stock GTI to Queensland raceway soon and see how she goes then mod from there

    Looking at
18 detroits on some nice sticky Semi slicks
dba 4000 front and rear with some nice pads
    Apr stage 1
    dsg tune

    heres a few pics

I owned a modified GC8 before buying my Polo GTi and they really are different beasts. Especially since the GTi is bone stock. Being used to the Subarus I have found the VW a little challenging to work on but it's all a learning curve.
How have you found the switch to DSG?

Found the GTI is piss easy to work with easy to change oil filter plus the lot even timing belt!
I miss my manual but dsg is grea launch control is awesome on the mountains I just use the paddles and it works wonders for me, the no lag of the GTI is awesome and makes the car feels a lot quicker than it is
