Hello all. Im the current owner of a grey '95 vr6.
I owned a white vr6 about 5 years ago as it was becoming unreliable and a had the need for a little more speed. I sold my golf to buy a r33 skyline. As that need for speed increased so did the iligality of my r33. For feer of being pulled over and defected i convinced the Mrs that i needed a second car. I bought and drove around a $500 s$%tbox r31 skyline for a little over a year but was longing for my old golf that i loved.
I decided to look around a little to see what they were going for. Seemed they were all 4kish and above. With my wedding coming up and a Mrs that would kill me, this was too much. But then....
I was surfing eBay and found a VR6 with a "broken rod" and thought this could be a great project for me to eventually get back on the VWagon.
After seeing the car and trying to start the car (and getting it running breifly) i made a $1k cash offer and bought the car on the spot confident that it was not as bad as the owner thought.
Turns out the reason the car would not start was the car had previously backfired through the intake and exploded the idle control damper. The car then had a massive vac leak. Purchased a new dampner and the car now runs!
$1070 for a running Manual VR6 what a bargain!
