Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey Guys,

I'm proud to say I have finally joined the league of VW owners/drivers.

I have always liked the 9N3 Polo's after driving a friends stock standard Match back in 2009. I recently drove past a GTI on my way to work one day and the pur from the exhaust had me captivated.

Only 3 days later I lined up a test drive with a dealer here in Perth who had a 2007 sitting on the lot fresh from a trade in. My intentions were for nothing more than a joyride but I could not resist. One drive and I was HOOKED! By the end of that week I had signed paperwork and the car was mine.

Needless to say, the best and craziest impulse buy so far.

Here are the only pics I've got of it, more to come soon.

    Welcome
Nice buy, car buying on impulse is always fun - it's how I bought mine and I don't regret it for a moment.

      welcome aboard jac, great buy.

Similarly, I now own an RS4 after just pooping up to the dealer for a curiosity look! LOL

are you planning to keep it stock or tweak it a bit?

          cheers for the welcome guys

i'd love to go to Day of the Volks or even a cruise/get together. I'm relatively new to Perth and would be great to make some friends with similar interests.

In terms of tweaking it, I'm still undecided. I'm not sure whether its just me but i have a feeling my exhaust sounds "beastier" than other Polo GTI's I've seen. Maybe it's just the way i drive it, because I'm quite positive the only modding done is the rims.

Any suggestions for any good "enhancements"?

an ECU reflash is best bang-for-bucks.

Give Quattro Motors a call who are agents for APR (9361 4170)

I believe they do a trial reflash no charge, which lasts for 6 hours to give you an addictive taste of the many pleasures

APR - APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW Porsche and Skoda Vehicles. is $1250 with lots of extras
Bluefin - Superchips – petrol and diesel engine tuning, ECU remap software for maximum driving pleasure. is probably half that

You will get many different views on which is better, I have done both and both make a big difference, so just comes down to how much you want to spend.

I honestly can't offer you comparisons on the different brands - you will need to scroll through the forum and net to get comparisons.

I ve expereienced 2 APR reflashes and both have been brilliant.

I believe that APR is the world's largest VAG modifier, and recently won 2 x Motor mgazine competitions for modifying cars

New Viezu dealer in Perth should be able to give you a good price, if you don't want to spend over $1200 for the tune.
