Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi,

I've been a long-time reader and have really appreciated the information. First time poster.

To fess up I'm only on my green Ps but unlike the stereotype I will happily admit to knowing next to nothing about getting the most out of cars but I'm here to learn!

In late 2011 I was looking for a reasonable new second car, with the MY00 Volvo S40 light turbo I inherited a couple of years back gone for good - reliability issues. I managed to get a have a bit of a windfall and was looking around with a budget of 20-25k. At the time I had my heart set on a Mazda 3 but my test drive in the SkyActiv was utterly uninspirational.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Chatswood Classic VW on a particular sale weekend and after taking both the 90 and 118 for a spin I was settled on the 90TSI. Great dealer managed to find one in the spec I wanted sitting brand new in Perth and it was brought over with 10km on the clock.

Almost a year later I've just crossed 10,000km and the car's a real mate. I haven't done anything to it, still thinking in that regard. Can't get enough of the quality which is the main thing for me, the German feel is great, and the stock performance continues to surprise me. Nice little turbo.

Anyway, long story short thanks for the help so far and I look forward to contributing.
