Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Gday mate.

I am a CL owner and they are awsome, cheap and easy to fix.

Best thing I can suggest is a full service, TB clean, plugs and leads, timing check and make sure it is running 100%.

Then get yourself a suspension upgrade. Either coilovers or a cup kit.

Go fast mods there is very much that you can d for little money. Id suggest a 2" sports muffler that will give it a little zoom and sound a tad better.

But good car for OEM+ mods. Keep it simple and clean. Remember less = more.

Welcome Byron. I'm a fan of the CL. Economical and a bomb proof engine, also a bit smoother than the 2.0.
Responds well to a slightly bigger cam, lightweight 15" rims and good 195/50/15 tyres.
