Well, it's about time I joined in the fun. I'm gldtdi's old dad, and I can take the credit for starting him off on Volkswagens [or you could say its my fault].
I own two Mk 1 golfs; a GLD and a GLS converted to diesel, and a T4 tdi caravelle. They all run entirely on biodiesel. The GLD has done about 250000km on biodiesel so far. I put a turbo on it eighteen months ago, and a five speed gearbox. Its got heaps more push and a bit quieter too, and gets 5 to 5-1/2 Lt/100km on general driving. Its well worn you could say, but I plan on keeping it going for a long time yet.
