    Hi guys,

    Cheers from Europe!
I drive a black MY09 GTI. Deliberately ordered a 9n3, the weekend before ordering 9n3's was discontinued, because of it's tuning potential and the fact that I was not convinced about pushing 180hp out of a 1.4. (I haven't looked in the problems section yet but I've read about problems with the 1.4's regarding oil consumption and some have the famous cheap chains on local forums).

The GTI is completely stock as it was still under warrenty, now i'm just looking around for basic changes like the 'sporty' honeycomb grills, coilovers and a remap.

    Ok some pictures:

    Nice purchase mate, and welcome

The 6N's are awesome little cars, especially the GTI's (which we never got down here).

Any idea from whom you want to source your go-fast bits?

    Cheers,
    Ryan

fine choice with the 9n3. That 20v turbo sure is one of the best engines VW has ever produced for strength and tuning potential! Keep us posted with updates

I had a 6n aswell. Such a great car to flog around

The 6n was pretty awesome, it was my first car, still a 'simple' design car on which i could do some stuff myself. The only downside is that it was only a 1.4... but still... rolling 195 in the front, 215 in the rear with a fixed weitec suspension... great fun

The go-fast bits? Well.... I'm kind of an over-thinker regarding my valuables... we have a really known Dutch tuner in the vag-scene with great recommendations and his own dyno and he fine-tunes his maps on a dyno. Downside is that it's long drive for me (in case i do need support afterwards) and he has no change-map options like APR.

APR is another possibility. Tried to get my hands on a APR ecu for a long time, even while still under warranty, since I can switch MAPS myself. They didn't ship from the US, were way to expensive purchased anywhere in the EU and I would have 0-support nearby (telephone support not counted). We just got a dealer since February but the thing is that they do not own dyno, so it's a standard map, not ajusted for my car. The company seems legit though, they have some nice projects.

Then there are all kind of local tuner whom I won't even consider.

ABT is out of the question because it's way to expensive and also not on a dyno.

Yep pretty pleased with 1.8. I do have a small issue though... when the ambient temperature is lower (say around 10 degC or lower) I hear my cam-chain knocking for a sec when cold starting. The car has been to the stealer for 4 times; first 2 to diagnose the problem (which I already explained them when dropping it off the first time [thanks to vwvortex ]); total chain tensioner replacement the 3rd time and the 4th was for fixing the damages caused by the mechanics during my 3rd visit..... and I've still got the problem.

Lately got myself caught a little bit in detailing. Bought some premium products two years ago and just 4 weaks ago started polishing myself with a DAP.
Besides the pogo we have 2 other black cars (German, hard paint ), so plenty of detailing to do
I've signed up for a detailing-clinic this Saturday to make myself more secure using the DAP. I did have the guts to try it out on a red, non metallic Ford Fiesta though; this one couldn't really get any worse. This is after one hit with Monello Mezzo and a white pad:

        Cheers guys
