Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Greeting from Texas

    Hello everyone,

I currently reside in Houston, TX. I've been into VW/Audis for a while now. I'm on Vortex as Mk520T, GolfMkV as Mk420V and GolfMk6 as Mk620T. I spotted the thread on the Audiosources ANS 510/810 and wanted to get in on the discussion.

    Previous cars: (built, not bought)

    1996 VW GTI 2.Slow 5-speed

    2000 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro 6-speed manual, APR Stage 1, APR exhaust, APR Bi-pipe

    2003 VW GTI 1.8T 2-door 5-speed manual, GT28r, T3/T04E 50trim

2007 VW GTI 2.0T FSI Autobahn 6-speed manual, Malone Tuning Stage 2, 3" Cat-less downturned exhaust, K-sport coils, BSH tru-seal intake, MFD2, Pirelli edition lip, Votex sides and rear

    Current Car:

2012 VW GTI 2.0 TSI, 6-speed manual, Tornado Red, RCD510, Interlagos plaid seats, K-sport coils and some small interior mods

I have quite a bit of knowledge surrounding big turbo builds, FSI engine (tear down, diagnosis, repair/rebuild), and 1.8T's. I'm also quite good with audio installs, suspension - really just about anything but transmission work.

Looking forward to the AU forums!

    Thanks - James

      Car pics

MkIII 2.Slow - the commuter car! Wiring harness just caught fire - not sure if she'll run without a VR6 swap

A6 - Excuse the wheels - bought a cheap set of TSW's to replace the one BBS VZ that broke right before selling.

MkIV - My favorite car - Had a couple of different turbo setups - big turbo eats parts and money!

MkV - Enjoyed this car until the timing belt snapped 20k miles after being changed.
Some pictures with RaceLand coil overs, some with K-Sport coils and some on stock suspension.

MkVI - just got this one. So far have APR S1, Audi S3 shifter bracket, VCDS mods, no license plate, and removed Soundaktor (engine noise maker that replaces noise pipe). I'm contemplating throwing the K-Sports on there. I have a downpipe too, but I think I want a different one that has a cat in it.

Loving the MkIV - looks awesome! Do you still have it and/or the MkV as well as the VI?

Did you make any internal mods after rebuilding the MkV EA113 post-belt snap?
