Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New 2012 Polo Comfortline 77TSI DSG just off the boat. Also looking for some help.

    Hey there everybody,

I'm going to be the proud owner of a pepper grey 77TSI Polo in a week and a bits time.

However, I always wanted the RNS-510 in my new machine, but the price having the darn thing as an accessory to it was going to set me back a whopping $3300 something. I've also already compromised on the rims, but I'm sure I can get those 17'ers fitted any other time and not for almost $4000 also -_-

Was looking around for aftermarket options - and here I am. I've spent way too many a late night scouring information and reading up on the VCDS (I already watched a video or two on the physical installation of the RNS-510, looks simple enough, though knowing me, I'm probably going to break something); aaaand- that whole coding thing makes no sense to me, I get this feeling that none of it is going to make any sense to me until I see it in action. I also have a feeling if I tried anything by myself, I'm going to end up with a Polo-sized paperweight.

So yes, I seek your counsel fellow VW owners and modders and such - anyone willing to help me out or get me started, will be very much appreciated, and if say the help goes as far as advising me on the right part to get along with helping me install it, I am more than willing to pay in liquid currency and/or liquid currency!

If you're interested in aftermarket solutions you can check out what I have to offer from my sig - plug & play no need for coding whatsoever

Otherwise there are RNS-510 sellers that offer installation & coding services, or a forum member near you might be willing to at least do the VCDS coding for you for a beer.

The unit looks great, though do ALL the units come with the red backlit buttons? I think the Polo has a slightly different color scheme (I think it's white, I've yet to drive it see).

You sure it doesn't need any coding? it's compatible and ready to use with the steering wheel control buttons and the MFD?

Also, thanks a lot for replying, I welcome any help, and I will also consider the units you are selling
