Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    VIC VW service?

    Hi, New owner of Dragon green 97 Mk3 Golf AGG with 127000 ks on it. Dont think timing belt has been changed and it needs new thermostat. No VW service in South Gippsland, so looking for quote and service in Southeast Melbourne. Rang two VW dealers who were to ring back but didn't. Emailed two VW mechanics as that was how they wanted contact but no reply. Can you recommend someone and what should I expect to pay for timing belt change + thermostat replacement.

    Where in South Gippsland?
    from out in the country I can highly recommend Dejongs (European car specialist) in Nicholson (just past Bairnsdale).
    Otherwise in Melbourne, Volkwerke in Greensborough do a awesome job and are vw nuts, also highly recommend.
