just wondering if anyone else has a 10th digit of D in his or her VIN? my R is on a boat in the English channel at the moment...going to make a few stops in the US before mosey-ing on down to Brissie

i am pretty new to the world of 'car blogs', so forgive me if this is a noob question. When checking prices for purchase of a Golf R, i noticed that some ppl are selling a car made in 2011 as MY12. I have a new R arriving in 4 weeks, but I wonder what MY it will be. Is there a cut-off or does it go by calender year??

As far as i know, the my13 starts around mid-year, so yours is probably my12 if it was built before june. It's common for a car to be built in a certain year but be the NEXT year's "model". Check your VIN. I have an R arriving in 8 weeks and I've been given the VIN. If the 10th digit is C, it's MY12, if D, like mine, MY13. Btw, this my first post in a car forum, too

Just checked my order form. 10th digit in VIN is a C. At least having a VIN is reassuring. I have had 500 phone calls and emails from various guys from this dealer during the purchase process. I suspect finding the car I wanted has been a challenge for them. My invoice says: rising blue R. 19" silver wheels. Reverse camera. Dynaudio. (I just wanted a base model with no options). Still, will be a great car no doubt.
