Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Howdy all,

My names Rory, some of you know me personally, but most of you probably know my website, DownshiftAus. At the last big meet for June I saw a big contingent of dubs roll in. Got a little excited in the pants region. Was told it was the VWWC Crew and I was slack and only got around to signing up today, CAUSE WORK SUCKS!!!11

I was chasing a new car for a daily but I wanted something sick still, not some POS. I started looking a MkV's and so fourth. Started picking up some copies of PVW and checking the scene out. Got fairly hooked on VW's, almost bought a tonne of different models. Pirelli's, MkIV and V R32's etc etc. Still umming and arring I ended up looking towards Evo's, mainly VIII's and IX's. I wanted an Evo IX so badly but they were so steeply priced for their k's and I definitely did not want a silver one because they were so common.

Long story short, I ended up buying a Tornado Red MkVI GTI because seriously, how do you go past that front end? Looked at the R's but couldn't warrant spending the money for 'just a daily'. Didn't plan on doing anything to the GTI, jsut using it as a nice run around while saving for something else to toy with. Unfortunately thanks to some influential mates and a PVW subscription...I now own Golf moneypit that is getting worse, with all engine bases covered, I am moving on to Accu-Air catalogues and my wallet is HATING me.

Thats my story peeps, will tell more about car in a build thread when I get around it. Got some funny stories, like how I entered Powerplay and beat fully worked VE GTS's as well as sitting side by side with an R35 GTR come say hey if you see me around. Massive Downshift sticker on the front window gives it away. Soon to be personalised plates as well!!!!

hey mate, have seen your golf at all the downshift meets, you'll need to reserve us a nice long row on the grass for the next one.

Good to see you here and well done with all the downshift stuff, its so good to have a big crowd with a good attitude at a car meet!

Ah yup, yeah I work in Mayneview Street at Milton. I am usually giving it a bootful because I am late from Lunch or something hahahaha. Downshift sticker is usualy the biggest giveaway (until number plates) I haven't seen any other GTI's with my exhaust either.

Unfortunately I didn't But we have a few contributors around the country so our guy in Sydney rolled out. Which one was yours? Man you're telling me with the whole cheque book thing. Costs for all the engine work was spastic, worth it though hahaha

As for the setup I am looking at, not sure just yet. I have tried avoiding looking heavily into it mainly due to my impulsive nature hahaha. I opted out of a Coil setup purely because I bought this as a Daily and Bags will let me run the setup I want with the drive ability I need. So Bags will be the go, just what and when is another story. I mean by christmas hopefully the car should be finished (Let's be real, time frames never happen with cars). Got my eye on some Gallardo Splits as well

Will definitely be out at the events mate, was meant to come to the last but totally forgot about it. I wasn't a member and was going to tag along with my mate Eric who has a MkV R32. He was away and I didn't know details
