In the middle of breaking up with Mazda!

Don't know if anyone will actually read this, but Ironman (James) introduced me and got me into VW. Just sold my CX-7 Luxury Sports today and am 95% confident I will get a Golf....perhaps a 03 model. I was really wanting a turbo diesel but hard to come buy according to Carsales.
Any suggestions on a golf that will do 0-100km in 8.5km with good fuel economy would be welcomed.

Will update my profile if I end up converting my Mazda status to a VW status
