Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Gday guys,

been sliding around these forums for a while, as i couldnt decide to go for an Audi or VW, however i just bought a Mk5 Jetta 2.0T DSG and absolutely love it!

Im 25 and work as a electronics technician, my previous history with cars has been in the Jap side of things, where I had a R31 for first car and spent the last 8 years farting about and replacing/modifying just about everything bar the chassis in it. However as i dont have the time to muck about anymore with it and as much as it breaks my heart, it was time to upgrade.

My old man bought a demo 2006 Polo GTi a number of years back and i absolutely fell in love with the german engineering and the car in general hence my leaning towards the Audi/VW line of things.

I bought the Jetta about 3 weeks ago with 73K on the clock, off a bloke who had it shipped from Sydney at around 40K in 09. He lived near the CBD and caught public transport everyday so it was basically for his wife to get the shopping in . Has full service history with all logbook services which was a real plus, not to mention the paintwork still looks immaculate (is the Graphite Blue). Only downside was a minor accident on one of the passenger doors a couple of years back which was repaired and is completely unnoticeable.

I was a bit unsure about the DSG at first as they cop a fair bit of stick but so far ive been nothing but amazed at how seamless the changes are. Would love to know other peoples experiences have been like with them so far?

Anyway thats about it for the time being, great to be here, looks like a top forum! Definately be keen to hit up a cruise with some of the WA crew at some stage.

    Cheers,

    Trent
