First time VW owner (soon)

Hi all,

Name is Andrew. Im a qualified Mechanic now Mechanical engineer liveing in hobart. Went to a dealer about six months ago looking for a polo and was informed about the long wait. so i left it at that. Last week i went with a friend to look at a X trail at a car lot near VW and thought ill drop in and see if the wait was any shorter. I was told it had eased somwaht but lucky for me thay had one on the floor a customer orderd and didnt end up gettingt. Was all excited until i saw it was black. moral droped briefly untill he said it could be swaped out for another coulor. so after some wheeling and dealing i pout down a deposit to day on a candy white polo GTI. I pland to get it chiped by apr once it run in a little and install a RNS510.
current car is a 08 subaru liberty GT spec B (trading in) to big for the wife and a little thirsty. Member of club liberty forum so knowing how great forums can be for info i did a search and quickly found this site. Car is between 3-6 weeks away (3 if i take the stock model or 6 if thay can swap out for the bi-xenon equipt one).
Look forward to sharing mods and advice with you all.

Congrats on the purchase Andrew, and welcome to VWW! I take it you've elected to get the halogen-equipped car?

Yea the xenon car was not earmarked on the computer, but was designated for the dealers cousin. would be about a six month wait for xenons and my trade in would drop to much value. Already droped enough from the last time i looked for a Polo GTI. at least now its locked in and i can hunt ebay for a RNS and reverse camera.
