  • VIC New to VW :D

Ordered our Pepper Grey Tiguan 155TSI DSG 2 weeks ago. Last we heard she's still languishing through the bowels of Aus Customs. Hopefully not longer than another couple of week. She also boasts sunroof, xenons, sat nav & tow pack.

Really excited about getting on VWW forum. Have been doing our car research for the past year and these forums have been an extremely useful source of reference & inspiration!

While we're waiting for the Tig (and car-less), a mate has lent us his Golf GTI 35 for a few weeks. All I can say is, wwoooaaahh!! I hope the 155 Tig will be almost as much fun to drive . I'm aware that compared to the GTI 35 the Tig's suspension won't be as sporty, it will have more body roll, is heavier and of course, not as powerful or torquey compared to the GTI 35's up-rated engine. It will also be interesting to see how the Tig's 7 speed DSG drives in the real world compared to the Golf GTI's 6 speed.

For us, the practicalities of the Tig won out. She'll be a welcome addition to the family...

Heh. Had the same dilemma. Wanted an R but the missus wasn't too keen on having a second Golf. I tried selling her the "you can drive the other car" when one is in service but no go.

So I got the Tiguan instead. Opted for xenon leather and adaptive chassis

A simple ecu remap will bump power and torque up to level above the Ed35.

        Hmm... Tempting!!

I suppose a set of lower-riding, road-hugging suspension would also need to feature if we were to go down the tuning path.

Anyone know what an ECU remap alone will do to the fuel economy? Say, up 5%? 10%?

        Would it void the warranty?

Warranty is a difficult one to answer.
If say your power window's stop working, then it can't be attributed to the ecu remap and will still be warranted where as if your engine fails they will likely claim it's due to teh ecu remap.

I have Stage 2 software and hardware on mine (no suspension work at all) and it handles fine (check out my thread in my signature - had a few short track sessions)

Fuel economy for normal day to day driving is about the same of 5% better.
