Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Awaiting my new 2012 Skoda Octavia vRS wagon

    Hi everyone.

My name is Ben and I have just signed my oreder for a new Skoda Octavia vRS wagon that is due around mid July.

Sucks having to wait, but with the amazing deal I got, it made sense to wait for a new one rather than take my chances on an ex-demo that was only about $2000 less!

My current ride is a lightly modified Focus XR5 with Powerchip re-flash, Eibach springs, Bilstein dampers, EBC Red Stuff brakes, 24mm RARB and a modified centre exhaust section. It has been the best car I have owned so far, but the jarring ride, sky high seating position and appetite for tyres is getting old. Besides, with a 14 month old and another one hopefully on the way soon, its lack of usable rear seat and small boot mean it just has to go.

I have been a happy forum and club member with all my past cars including the Focus, a WRX, Liberty RS turbo wagon and Corolla GTi so I look forward to chatting and hopefully meeting up with some fellow Vic Skodites in the future.

And if all goes well, I will start on a similar modifying path I took with the XR5.

Cheers all, glad to be aboard.

    Congrats on the purchase.

I looked at the Skoda, just could justify the extra $$ over the Jetta. But they are great cars to drive stock.

    Enjoy

      Thanks Dubber.

I understand your logic completely, its a preference thing I guess.

The Jetta is great value for the most part, I guess the price can stack up if you go nuts ticking option boxes though!

I basically looked at the RS as a GTi wagon. Yes, its a bit softer than the Golf, but its stacked with kit, and I am an old wagon tragic from way back. My old Liberty RS wagon was a bit of a weapon back in the day!

Cheers, might see you round one day.
