  • WA mk4 golf v6 4mo

    Hello,

I bought my mk4 golf v6 4mo just under a year ago ... beautiful car!
Its a UK import, never released in Oz. For those that dont know, its
    the ancestor of the R32 ... a 2.8L V6 with 4motion, the same
mechanicals I believe as the Bora V6 that was available here.

I've joined the forum to get a feel for where I might go with upgrades.
I'm not going to go that far ... maybe a sports exhaust to get a bit
more sound out of that V6, and I'm thinking some halo/angel-eyes
headlights would bling it up a bit.

    welcome!
have seen another kicking around AUS for sale before. but im pretty sure its different due to your wheels and stock body.
please dont do angle eyes, ruins the classy look of the golf.
lots of guys put R32 or parts of R32 exhausts on thier 4mo boras, so maybe thats something to look at.
intake will also get a better noise from that engine.

even better yours is a 2 door

Hey, thanks for the comments! I did a quick mockup of the halo lights I was thinking about ...

I sort of like the black on black with white trim thing ... matter of taste I guess Anyway, and if
I change my mind, its easy to pop the old ones back in.

Re exhaust, there is a milltek cat back made for the v6 4mo's, so that's where I'll be headed
when funds allow. Oh, and yeah ... I got lucky with the 2 door! The v6 4mo's were sold in
NZ, but only the 4door variety. The car is in really good condition too, well looked after by
the original owner ... only done a touch over 40k miles. It was sold and run on the Jersey
Islands, so not too many long distance drives I would imagine.

Wow nice rare car, Little sister of mine (or brother)? Come show it off at our cruise. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...d-70813-5.html

I'd say some nice rims, Probably a r32 exhaust as Dylan said and keep it looking OEM+

nice car mate, but if you wanna go OEM+, get an r32 bodykit, exhaust and wheels. it will not get more OEM+ than that
Hope you can make it to Araluen

Ain't that just an r32 minus some cc's and hp?

I'm not a huge fan of halos either (yes i am a hypocrite as i have them on my car) but i think with a decent looking set they can be pulled off without looking too bad.

Pretty much ... the v6 4mo has 200bhp, but is probably a touch lighter than the r32 because of the smaller engine. I've never driven an r32, but I've read that my "r28" is generally a softer ride ... more comfortable suspension setup and softer seats. Like the r32, its got all the goodies (lots of TLAs (three letter acronyms)) with leather, sun roof, heated seats (really useful here in Perth .

Re the araluen cruise, I'm usually on garden duties over the weekends, but might be able to duck out for an hour or so to check it out. I happen to live just round the corner!

Well, if I get all my homework done, I should be able to play for a bit longer. So the show'n'shine isn't exclusively VAG cars, right? I read somewhere that beemers are invited too. I guess the theme is "European" then?

welcome mate! Really unique car you have there!

The great thing about it is, you can have a unique VW, and most of the parts from a garden variety one will fit so you dont have to worry about parts all that much

Exactly. There's over 4 million mk4s in the world, so plenty of parts available.
