Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA Wheel sizing help? :)

    Hey guys,
as you can tell i am a newbie to vww but i am lucky enough to own a 1997 MK3 GL 2.0 Golf as my first car
It is completely stock at the moment and i got it at only 170,000kms, which was good for its age, always loved golfs since my dad first showed me pictures of his old MK1 GTi from back in his hay day, he has also own a Scirocco and other beasts yet no longer as we moved to Australia in 2005. Well i always wanted a Golf and now ive got one, and ive got just around a grand left of spending money, i was just wondering what is some cheap and decent ideas to rock my golf socks off? Ive already got the windows full tinted out and theres a few things that need fixings such as the interior light, but besides that its in perfect condition, im after a set of wheels first hopefully 15's or 16's cause im not swayed by the stock 14 steelies. Dad isnt a fan of me lowering it and what not, seeing as im only on my L's there's not much i can do, but the cops are pretty harsh around here and if it looks modified they will stop you to find out if it is :| but yeah i want to do the exhaust but that will be later on. I think the stud pattern is 4 x 100? but i was wondering if anyone can tell me if these VOLK RACING - RAYS FORGED 2pc FORTRESST 2 WHEELS | Wheels, Tyres & Rims | Gumtree Australia Stirling Area - Stirling
would fit under the guards by any chance? i was thinking of putting 45 or 50 profile tires on them? will this use up most of my budget though? Because not long ago i found a nice set of 15" superlites yet the stud pattern was 4 x 130 so they where a no go. The question is will they fit without any adjustment?
    Thanks in advance,
    sincerely
    Billy

Hi there and welcome!! The wheels above unfortunately won't fit on your old as it says they are made for a skyline in the add and the stud pattern for one of them is 5x114.3. Good luck with the search for some wheels!!

Also be sure to post up some photos!!
