WA Searching!

Hi Guys,

I'm from Perth and it seems trying to find a new or well priced used Golf R over here is mission impossible.

I'm currently driving a 2011 Subaru WRX but I've decided to change over to the R. Now it's just a matter of finding one. When I bought the WRX I almost bought the GTI instead but I guessed I got sucked into buying the WRX when I first drove it.

At this stage it looks like I'm going to either buying a new one with options that I don't really want, or buying one from the eastern states - which seems the more likely of the two options. The pricing for a used one over here is almost exactly the same as a new one. I can fly over to the eastern states and buy an almost new one and get it transported back to WA for cheaper than I can buy one over here. Go figure!

Anyway, if this purchase is anything like what I did with my Subaru, i'll be looking to play with it and change things up til no end. Now to find one...

a couple of suggestions for you.

1/ work out the best deal over east you could get, and then show the local dealer and see if he will budge (Ive successfully done that before on a local but reluctant seller)

or

2/ if you do decide to buy ex east, on a newish golf R is there any real need for you to fly over to inspect?

I bought my S3 ex Qld without seeing it first. Had the seller send me a truckload of closeup photos and then when I was satisfied, I had it drop it into the local non-factory ausi specialist and asked him to prepare me a report on the regular inspection items, but also provide a view on condition of brakes, clutch, paint, leather etc etc.

$200 well spent and when the car arrived I was very happy
