Hi, saw an Amarok today and liked the look of it. Like many on the site am wondering why there's not a bigger engine on offer, especially diesel for long distance towing

Welcome to the forum. It looks like that the VW is a leader in downsizing, which is the trend and most likely the necessity to meet the future global emissions targets.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

A 2litre engine just seems to be too small for towing long distances. Educate me if I'm off the mark. I'm talking 22 foot caravan here. Perhaps the Amarok is the wrong vehicle to be looking at. At a glance it looks to be a fairly big vehicle. I would have thought it would have a V6 option. Fuel economy is all fine when you aren't towing but hook something up to a unit with a small engine and a V8 will use less fuel. It seems to me there should be something in between 2 & 5 litres which may be an attractive option.
