  • QLD Looking for a Golf GTI or R as starting to settle into the country.

    Hey the names Jamie,

Was reccommended this site by my uncle who found the members helpful when he was restoring his MK1 Golf Cabriolet. Looking around for a fun car for the weekend but also the timely comute into work. Have worked with Volkswagens in my previous careers and really beliveve in the engineering and quality/reliability of the VW's. Would really like a Golf R but would like to hear what and if any issues people are having with them. Use to have a Golf Mk V GT TDI 125KW as a company car absolutely loved it just don't do the long comute anymore hence the move to the performance model's.

Would be great to hear some feedback. & maybe find my dream car.

Welcome Jamie, If you want AWD and a few extra bits and extra 30kW, get an R. If this is not important or relevant to your needs/desires, get a GTI.

Both cars are brilliant in their own right IMHO.

Easy to up the GTI to similar kW with a tune!

      Welcome to the forums mate.
Feel free to come out to Lakeside on Sunday morning (7:30am) and see some GTI's and R's in action.

They are both great cars, the gti tends to be more entertaining, the r is more reserved due to teh later onset turbo on the awd factor.

Also, if you like the R but don't have the cash the Audi S3 (8P) is basically the same car and can be found second hand and relatively new for a bit less.
