I drive a 2008 Golf TDi GT Sport 170. It was meant for export to Australia, but I got my hands on it.
There is a huge contingent of S.A.s in Perth, W.A. - I sometimes wonder if there are any left back in S.A.
Not a day which goes past that one of your fellow countrymen comes to the dealership!
I'm originally from Cape Town, but that was a long time ago. Moved to Oz with my parents and four brothers in the early seventies.
Back in those days I remember V.W's were popular even then. My uncle had a 68 beetle and my dad had a 3 door Kombie dual cab, with an 1800 or maybe 2liter engine and four on the floor. Great versatile car. Possibly the first SUV to be produced in the world. Could carry 4 kids on the back bench seat and a bucket load of gear in the tray. We would use it to go camping all the time and trip to the beach. Lots of fond memories.
By the way, love your wheels. I've just bought my first V.W. 2012 Passat Wagon. still waiting on delivery.
