  • Hi

    Hi all,

I've currently got an 8P Audi S3 (so am regularly on OzAudi forums), but need to downsize as I've returned to uni (so really should get a less expensive car). One option I'm looking at is the old model Polo GTi so thought here was the best place to learn about it.

I look forward to chatting with you all more!

    Cheers,
    Blake.

    Welcome aboard Blake.

I've got myself a little GTI myself and I would definitely recommend you pick one up for yourself (AND MOD THE ABSOLUTE HELL OUT OF IT HAHA).

In all seriousness though... a tune, exhaust and coilovers will make you a happy person

      Hi Bflat,

Thanks for the welcome. Definitely up for modding - the 1.8T in the polo has such a massive boost with an ECU tune. I've currently got APR Stage 1 on my S3 which made a massive difference, but the change that it makes for the Polo GTi seems to be even more proportionally drastic! I will miss my S3 though - it's just such an awesome car which can do a luxury roadtrip with ease, then have a lot of fun on the twisties without getting any unwanted attention from the boys in blue

Have you modded your Polo GTi? What can it do roughly 0-100 with a tune?

A tuned 9N goes seriously hard; their biggest problem by far is powerdown when it comes to getting a good 0-100 time. Still, that's a nicer problem to have than no power.

One of our mods, Corey_R, went from a stage 1 9N to a Golf R, and thought the Polo felt a lot faster. That is until he went to stage 2+ on the R...

Welcome Blake - I'm sure you'll find the VW crowd to be just as nice as our Audi brothers.

If you want to have a chat sometime or head out for a drive in a modded 9N3 GTI feel free to drop me a PM - always happy to share my experiences with the car and the various changes I've made over the years.

Edit: Too many tabs open and I missed the fact you are in Sydney, so previous comment re CVWC isn't relevant. The offer still applies if you're ever down Canberra way.
