Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan with paddle shifters

Hi guys, a new Tiguan owner with a rather unusual issue (I think)!

Took delivery of a new 103TDI with DSG about 4 weeks ago. Noticed paddle shifters on the steering wheel but didn't make any comment to the salesman at the time. Tried them later that day, and the shifters are not working. Not surprising as I believe they are not standard in the Australian market.

To cut a long story short, the dealer has told me they cannot be activated and they've ordered a new wheel (without shifters, of course). I'm tempted to hang on to the current wheel and investigate a little further.

Anyone with deeper VW knowledge have any comment?

    Regards

    Tim

If you have the auto transmission they should be able to be activated via vagcom.

You are correct that the paddle shifters are not standard equipment in australia.

Hit up Sharkie or Aussietig as he has done the transplant
