Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA evening all...

    Hello,

Just purchased a my11 gti with 145kms on the clock[demo]
    Leather, 3 door, pearl black

Just about to get the tint done.
Chasing a set of 18's or 19's with some kumho 39's.
    Am debating that vmr groupbuy.
Better options? Anything available here in perth or nationwide that really stands out[prefer gunmetal or bronze]
stage 1... mmmmaybe... trying to get away from the mod 'bug'

    Kindest regards

    Slav

welcome aboard Slav - car sounds great.

    Don't fight the mod bug.

Buy wheels and tyres overseas, works out much cheaper and a far greater range

give us a hint of the style you are looking for and perhaps we can make some suggestions for you.

for a stage 1, give Quattro Motors a call on 9361 7111, I think they can do a trial 6 hours APR reflash for you

APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles. $1495

and if you are quick, they have a 15% off easter sale til 21st april

      Thank you gareth..

I have been spending countless hours late at might trying to find a rim that I would
      Like for the black gti...
Something in bronze or gunmetal, 19", preferably with a tyre package but thats not
      Imperative.

Did look into the group buy for the vmr 710 in gunmetal.
But still unsure about the rim.

For wheel style, dont do what other people say, do what you want - your money, your taste and you have to live with the final decision!

        have a look here:

        VAG 5x112, BM Autosport Ltd

I just purchased a set of LM reps for my S3 (arrived this morning!!)

for pricing, take 15% (VAT) off his adertised price) and add 250 pounds for shipping

          Fantastic link! Thank you....

Will look through the collection this evening

---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------

Just checked all of them... There are three I like... But not necessarily love... Like the vmr710,
There's some nice ones in there but none that really stand out to me.
          Good prices though

i owe you a few beers/bourbons when i end up buying one of them...

question... what's this about? obviously need to read my manual

Your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that requires a sensor to be installed in the tire and wheel assembly for proper operation.

NHTSA's interpretation of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits service providers from installing aftermarket tires and wheels on your vehicle without working TPMS sensors.

In some states, vehicle inspection regulations require operating TPMS on every vehicle that came with TPMS as Original Equipment. Check with local law enforcement officials to confirm restrictions in your area or check our latest listing here.

The Original Equipment sensors from your Original Equipment wheels may be compatible with the new wheels you selected. Please consult the "Important Notes" link found online for more information or call Tire Rack for assistance.

An inexpensive TPMS repair/rebuild kit is required when sensors are reused.

As an option you may purchase the sensors listed below. They are compatible with both your vehicle's TPMS and the wheel you have selected.

                      Your system includes:

                      315MHz Tire Pressure Sensor
                      $212.00 for a quantity of 4

                      Total Price: $212.00

i like the second one... prefer the pattern there with the rim BUT it does not ship to australia.

that tiretrack website is terrific though with the picture of the vehicle with the rim on it

can't offer you any advice on tpms, sorry.

if you do like the ebay/UK one, then:

1/ contact the seller and ask for dimensions of the packaging and weight.
2/ contact ukbrandsworldwide.com - UK Specialists in Personal Shopping and Package Forwarding and give them the packaging details and ask them for a shipping quote

they are a freight forwarding company who will ship the wheels to oz.

i've used them in the past - not an advanced company, but provided a reliable, cheap service
