    Hello Aussie Dubbers,

Still only a prospective dubber at the moment but looking at a Golf GTI for my next car.

Time to retire the Honda CRV I've been driving for 13 years.
Still own 2 newer BMWs but the family somehow claims both most of the time.
So with my new car, requirements are smallish/good performance/good all round package.

Golf GTI ticks all the boxes.. there are faster (Mazada 3 MPS), prettier (Alfa Giulietta), better interior with RWD (BMW 1) but as a all rounder at this price point its hard to beat. Really don't need me to tell you guys...
Most impressed with the current DSG having driven previous versions and the Alfa Selespeed... + various DSGish/dual clutch designs. Plus the car is easily moddable without much hacking and messing about.

So the hunt is on pending minister of finance approval on the final package... whether we go for a mark6 or wait for a mark 7 later this year/ early next year.

    Cheers

Mk7 GTI won't be here until at least 2014.

Intersting that you think the BMW 1 series has a better interior, all the reviews i have heard say you can really tell the cost cutting in the 1 form the interior quality.

Hope you get approval to buy.

We've had members trading 130is and 135is for Golfs (GTI and R), and the general consensus is the interior quality is better in the VW. My neighbour drives a 135i coupe, and he and I both think my Golf is built to a higher standard overall.

As for performance, a stage 1 tune from any of the many reputable tuners out there (APR, Viezu, GIAC, CustomCode, the list goes on) will give you MPS-beating performance with a vastly better torque curve and none of that rampant torque steer.
