Thanks so much have been doing a fair amount of research and have my eye on a 118tsi, manual - my friend currently owns one and its a little beast! Haven't had a chance to drive one yet so currently I'm absolutely terrified of driving a turbo until i get some practice.

How does it drive? Any tips for first timers?

Ask your friend if you can have a whirl in their 118.

From what i have heard it will be fine to drive as the power delivery is smooth in stock form.

Nice to see you want a manual.

            Welcome aboard!

My gf has one. Unmodified and I've tried hard to convince her to get it chipped. But it's so smooth you won't even know it's a twin charger. Definitely a good buy, you certainly won't regret it.

I honestly cant wait. I'll be paying cash too so hope i end up with a good deal! Ive already spoken to VW Mascot, it seems they dont get a lot in with manual transmissions (and not many in their May stock coming in) so i hope i dont have to wait half a year like a lot of people here.

Ps thanks for the kind welcome

Try talking to as many dealers as you can.
If there aren't any locally try in other states that you can get to easily then drive it home.

I paid cash for mine nad found that they don't really do "cash" deals anymore as they make more money off financing.
Hopefully you can jag a good deal though.

Also, check out the dealer section of our forum for some friendly advice.

as an exercise, have a look at some secondhand ones that are say less than 12 months old - see if the savings are worth considering
