Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Looks like I'm getting a new ride

Hi all, I just made a deposit on a 2002 Bora V6 4Motion Sport and will pick it up on Sunday and hand over the rest of the cash
Thanks for everything Ben, it was a pleasure to do business with you
This will be my first VW of any description but I have been a fan for a while, it was this or something my wife picked out so I am glad I won out
I will probably be asking a few questions later on so expect the worst

Next up, Big Brake Kit from ECS, Cold Air Intake, Coilovers.

Well I have had the car for about 2 weeks now and so far so good, still getting used to the firmer ride and still occasionally turn the wipers on instead of the indicators
Work mates like it, the friend with the Mk4 GTI 1.8 loves it, he keeps telling people that it has great big hairy balls, I do know that it goes a lot better than my old ride (a 1990 bubble back laser we bought new) and a lot better than the wife's 2001 Corolla wagon.
I have a few things I need to get for it like a boot lining and today I removed the bumper to get at the LHS headlight so I could fix it, as the internals had dropped off the mounting point used for up and down adjustment, I screwed it all the way down and then forced the rubber neck back over the shaft that holds it in place. next project with lights will probably be glass lenses and maybe later on I will look at self leverers and HID, hardest part will probably be the washer jets for the lights so as to comply with ADR's
