Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Everyone,

My husband & I love our VW 4x4 syncro transporter, it has become our way to escape, up the coast, out to the beach, even a spin to the take away. Makes us feel like we are on holidays as soon as we jump in. Soren has modified the interior a little so we have a bed and a few basics for camping. We have had it for about three years and plays such a big part in our lives.

Yesterday about 3pm, some low life decided he should take posession of our beloved van, and was able to break in and hot wire it and drive it away in broad daylight from a supermarket car park. Soren had gone shopping to pick up one thing we had forgotton to buy earlier in the day in preparation for his son's 21st birthday party (last night). He actually saw the creep driving off & chased as far as he could, to no avail.

We are devastated, not only is our means to relax and get away been stolen from us, but also a means to obtain our livelihood. Soren uses the van to get to work. He has been off for a few months, sick with a gall bladder problem, and after surgery he was just preparing to go back to work in the next week or so. Now we have to buy a new vehicle to enable him to go to work, yet he hasn't had an income for a few months, so ...you know the story.

We haven't been involved in any clubs since owning oour van, one of those things planned for future. But I've always been impressed by the obvious comeraderie on the roads and from anyone who loves them.

Please, if anyone sees our van, please contact police, crimestoppers and/or us. It is very distinctive and we believe that the low life that stole it may not have gone far..we think he is local, judging from what Soren saw of him - Soren is very observant and has a fantastic memory for faces.

The Van is white with a horizontal red stripe around the middle, black and red dress rims, white curtains (if you get close you can see the sun and moon print). On the drivers side, circle in place where the non-syncro model's petrol cap is painted red - it looks like a red dot. It has a home-made towbar and bumper-step on the back.

It was stolen from the Morisset Square underground car park. Morisset (in case you want to go for a drive & don't know) is just off the F3 freeway between Wyong (Central Coast) & Newcastle.

I just hope someone sees it and can let the police or us know. We dread the thought that the creep who took it, won't be able to sell it so will trash it.

Sad for a first post, thank you one & all for reading this and if any replies &/or efforts to help, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Catherine
