  • Morning all....

    Hi,

I'm new here. I live in Windsor (between StKilda and Prahran) in Melbourne, and have both a Golf 3 8v, and an Amarok. The Golf has recently graduated from 'appliance' status and I hope to make some small upgrades as time and money allow.

I've joined here as my lurking indicates that there seems to be a fairly large knowledge base and a pretty friendly community here @vww.

The Amarok is great so far - no issues - just had it's 20k service.

My Golf has the AGG engine code, and is usually fed 95RON, he seems to be 'a little breathless' from about 2700-3300rpm - which is a massive pita on a highway. It's almost like the fuel and timing maps are out of sync at this rev range... is this normal? How is it fixed?

My plans at this stage extend to freeing up the little fella's breathing - either by opening up the airbox, or making other intake side arrangements, probably ECU reflashing/chipping, and I'll look at what I can do about an exhaust. I also intend on fitting some slightly bigger steels - it's awkward with the 4/100 pcd though, and also paying some attention to the shift action - it's pretty sloppy and would benefit from new bushes and a shorter throw.

Anyway. I look forward to having a chat at some point. Hope I can contribute in some meaningful way to this community.

    Thanks for having me aboard.
