Hi All, I just thought I would share my experience with you all. After speaking with a number of people, on this forum & elsewhere including VW, I came to the following conclusions:
1) Drive the car at varying speeds as much as possible for the first 1,000 klms. After the first 500 klms start progressing using the engine to brake the car more to provide load.
2) Between 1,000 klms - 1,500 klms start to raise engine revs to 4,000 rpm through different gears (top gear will obviously be difficult).
3) After 1,500 klms drive the car as per your normal driving habits. Be mindful though that the oil in the engine is a run in oil only. If you do put the engine under prolonged load I would suggest you keep an eye on the oil temp to ensue it stays within acceptable temps (I wouldn't trust anything over 110 deg with run in oil).
My car has now done 2,500 klms & the difference in the feel of the engine is unbelievable. It feels a lot more responsive & free revving than when brand new. I have no doubt it has more usable power & reduced fuel consumption. I hope this helps. Please note I have the 3.6l V6 so TDi's & TSi's might vary slightly.
