After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • 2007 R32 Misfire Issues

    Hi All

My friend has a 2007 R32 which recently developed a misfire issue. The dealer diagnosed it & we were told the oxygen sensor is faulty & $700 & 4 days later he got the car back. It was fine for about 2 weeks & same symptoms have re-occurred. The dealer is being very evasive about the fact that $700 has been spent with no benefit.

Can I throw out the question to those of you who know a lot more about VW's & mechanicals than I do to potential cause. My view is that if the O2 sensore fixed the problem for 2 weeks & has faulted again then something else must be causing that sensor to die.

    Any help would be appreciated.

        hey mate,

dont know much about the golfs, but I had an evo with the same problem.. O2 sensor would be rare to cause this, spark plugs and coil packs would be a much more likely issue, as this fixed my issue!!
        goodluck

It definitely sounds like coil packs need changing. There was a recall on all R32 coil packs, I'm surprised your mate wasn't aware.

Thanks mate. My friend only bought the car 6 months ago & is the second owner. His car goes in tomorrow for diagnostics. I will let you know the outcome.

Ok just an update for everyone. After changing the O2 sensor & the problem re-occuring VW then said it is one of the coil packs & replaced it. Problem has re-occured again.

              Let's hope 3rd time lucky.
