Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Team Members

I've had bright blue Octavia RS - a wagon - for a while, now. I love it. I live in Melbourne but travel to the country weekly and find the the mighty Skoda just nails the open road. Powerful, strong and pretty economical. My wife lives in San Francisco and drives an ML Mercedes diesel over there: she reckons the Skoda is a hoot of a car and loves driving it here.

I found this site when I was investigating my frustrations with the Columbus stereo/ sat nav unit. The first encounter was when I was seeking some way around the outrageous cost of updating maps on the sat nav.

Then, when I was given a brand new Audi A1 as a loaner while the Skoda was being services at Zagame in Richmond, I underwent some sort of epiphany when I kept recognising the songs playing on the sound system. By the third 'coincidence' I realised that I was experiencing the wonders of A2DP Bluetooth! I've been exploring options via the erudite members on this site...and thought it was worth joining!

Anyone with some great ideas re the A2DP BT streaming, I'd welcome your feedback!

    Cheers

Hi regarding the map updating, Tolga at Richmond Skoda repeatedly has told me that any car bought there they will update the maps free. If thats not the case I'd come down on him like a tonne of bricks. On more than one occasion I have been told that when I said the units were useless with the exorbitant price of the updates.

I was given a free update disc when I picked up my Superb in Canberra last week. I was also told I would receive an e-mail advising when the next update was due. As I live 3 hrs away from Canberra I was also told a disc would be sent FOC for further updates if I wasn't planning a trip down to Canberra. I know people have been charged up to $170 for updates from dealers so what gives? To me it seems the service at Lennock is above par while the one in Wollongong is below.
