I'm just getting through the "panning" I'm getting from my friends and family, for buying KLAUS the Kombi.
If you have never owned and driven a VW bus of any sort, you can't be expected to understand.
Way back in the '70s, my wife of the time and I, had his'n'hers Kombis. One 2ltr '72 auto and the other a '76 Manual.
Gave them up for other transport, and have silently pined for replacements ever since. I just bought myself a 2002 T4 transporter,2.5 ltr 5cyl petrol, with barn door back-end; and today sent it to be converted to LPG.
It has 190,000 on the clock, and apart from the aircon not working, a few small stone chips and bog awful window tints, it seems to be fairly sweet. It came as an 8 seater, but I've removed the rear three for the gas tank and some storage.
When I got it home it had grey bumpers from lack of love, but two sessions with the Armor-All and it looks better already.
I have been lurking around all the VW sites and forums, spent hours on Google Images studying the T4/T5 and am looking forward to a happy-ever-after with Klaus. Educated by you all on the Forum.
Cheers from WA
