Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi
Just bought a Scirocco R this week (Black, 6sp Manual). I have an R36 wagon (Black) as well. My wife drives an EOS.
Been playing with air cooled for years. Won VW Nat's in 09 with a 67 Custom beetle (1996 EFI Type1 motor)..
I have a Type 2 Transporter Single Cab (75) and a 71 Dual Door Van (71) as well. Both in resto mode atm..
My business has a fleet of Caddy's, T5's and Golfs (all black)..

I've joined this forum as the Scirocco buy was spur of the moment. But now I've got it, I am keen to amp up the HP a little and maybe the handling/suspension.

Any rate, looks like I'm in the right place..

    Cheers
    Rob

    Welcome aboard Rob.
We were eyeing off a couple of brand new Roccos at the workshop lastnight. I really need to look at getting myself one soon!

Id start with an ECU tune. Best bang for buck mod you can do!

Go and see Arthur at Exoticars in Parramatta. GIAC have tunes ready to go for the Scirocco R. RRP is $1095

Ahh cool. Maybe price up a downpipe too. Thats probably the next best performance mod after a tune if youre looking to add power.

Welcome SteNZnet! Sounds like you're a VW guy through and through!

Have a read through the Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) section; plenty of info on tunes, downpipes, and all the other mods that go towards stage 1, 2 and 3 performance upgrades. Your car runs the same engine as the Golf R, and many of the upgrades for that car should also be applicable to the Scirocco.

                Congrats on getting the 'Roc!
