Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi

I am hoping others may have come across this problem & hopefully have a solution. I have a rattle at the rear of my car that is happening all the time whether car is hot or cold, in a striaght line or around corners & happens more over "bumpy" roads. It sounds to me like something very loose is hitting a metal part of the car but can't place it. I have removed everything from the back (wagon) & it makes no difference.

The furstration is the fact that I have only had my car for 2 days & this was evident from the start & last night I discovered the right centre air vent is broken & I cannot change the direction of the airflow. What exactly did VW Sth Yarra do when their performed their dealer delivery check?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

Found it. It was a loose heat shield under the rear of the car. Just a little annoyed that it passed pre-delivery with the rattle but now all sorted.

Now I just need them to replace a broken air vent (centre right front) & put on the rear right wheel arch plastic dirt deflector that was never put on in Germany. I think my car was built on a Friday afternoon & they all wanted to knock off early!!
