AWESOME!... I work in Reynella and know the area quite well... I live just behind good vibrations (Everybody seems to know that landmark) on main south road. We will have to do some cruises or something sometime.
Just had a bit or a read of your project thread and am a bit jealous. At least I know when it comes round to it, I have somebody to help me with the respray. Also, just out of curiosity where abouts is the volkshop?

I just wish it was monday already. I want to pick her up now. Even if I can't drive her I'd love her in my carport... Time goes so slow when waiting for stuff like that.. I'll probably need to get your assistance with my respray (when I decide to do it that is, Won't be for a while)
Also, another quick question, do you know anywhere reputable to get her serviced?

i guarantee you will love it as soon as you drive it for the first time.
i didnt actually do any of the respray. my brother sprayed it. i sanded it and prepped it, but nothing else.
you could give german auto a call. not sure if they still service older cars. but if they dont give GHR motors a call. im pretty sure they still service older cars.

Howdy. Re servicing: German Auto won't touch Mk1s but GHR certainly will.

BTW I just sold my very original and clean Mk1 as I couldn't take with me when moved from Adelaide to Melbourne. Loved that car and I'm sure you'll love yours too. Just watch out for the brakes - they take some getting used to!

What troubled me most when I test drove it was the gears. With reverse being right over near 1st :O. And Why couldn't you take it with you?

Shouldn't really be a problem confusing 1st and R. Wasn't for me anyway. Gotta push the stick right done for R. New golfs are the same.

I couldn't take my Mk1 as I'd already got a Mk5 and couldn't take 2 cars. It was time to pass it on to someone else for them to enjoy.

I hope. The guy I am buying it off went to reverse out his garage and started going forward. Nearly got a big discount.. lol.
I got worried that there was some stupid law stopping interstate transport of older cars or something. I plan on moving to victoria sometime early-mid (Like May) this year. And I will not be leaving my new baby behind.

You'll get used to the gears in no time. And the guy who bought mine is actually in Vic so it's all cool moving them interstate.
