Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • planning a camper layout ...

Hi people, I'm currently planning a camper design for my transporter (future transporter). I've come across many great sites with some good ideas which I plan to use. I think I've pretty much got the layout down. All I need now is a Van and some carpentry skills aha...Hopefully I can get some questions answered here. Thanks.

I'm going for a simple layout that allows for maximum bed space and free of the mod cons clutter. The less "stuff" the better. No microwaves or bar fridge..(though I do need something thats compact to keep my food cool) Most if not all storage will be under the bed frame. The kitchen is also under the bed in a kind of jack in the box unfold. It gets pulled out from the back to be either set up outside away from the car or kept attached to the back allowing cover under the door. (There is a great Aussie company I came across on the net called Driftacampers. Simple and very clever ideas for pull-out kitchens.) I think they are the go for what I want.
A pop-top roof is on the agenda too but it's expensive to get done.. DIY ? ?

Thats about it for now. If you have any suggestions or recommendations please pass them on. cheers.
Working...
