Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Hello

    Hello there fellow Vw drivers,

    Hi there ,
Im Robyn from Sydney and I have a Tiguan I bought in 2009. I have a question for other vw owners, spefically of tiguans.
Im having a major issue at the moment which is currently being investigated by VW Australia. The compliance sticker cannot be located on my vehicle anywhere. 2 car yards have looked at it, one being my vw dealer I bought it from.
I have spoken to the dept of Vehicle Safety Standards and they have said that the compliance stickers by law are supposed to be metal plates and if this has fallen off then by rights it is the fault of VW. No compliance plate/sticker is supposed to come off a vehicle at any point.
They tried to get rid of me by saying once the sale is made it is no longer their responsibility but RTA and the dept of Vehicle Safety Standards are both saying it is the responsibility of VW being the importers of the vehicle.
Im at my wits end !!!!!!
Im now trying to locate any other Tiguan owners especially between 2008-2009 that may have had a problem locating theirs ???
I need to find anybody else who cant locate theirs, I may have located one other on another site but still yet to hear back, he posted the same message , also from 2009 and couldnt locate his either.
We bought this car brand spanking new and we were sooo proud of it now Im just at my wits end. Car has never been in an accident and still has all its other stickers attached.
Apparently by law your compliance plate is supposed to be visible.
Can Tiguan owners please please help me out here ???
    Thanks

          Hi,
It is supposed to be in the boot , right side underneath the spare , under that big spare tyre frame that you can take out , a sticker. Some others have found it in the engine bay between the engine frame and the silver looking foil , behind the silver foil.
I have also been told to check around door frames etc , but its not anywhere. My vw dealer cant find it either.
          Thanks
