Hi, I live in SE Queensland and have had VWs for some time - my first being a well used 58 beetle. My current collection consists of a 2006 GTI, a 1999 Golf Cabriolet 220,000km young, a restored 1971 Superbug and a part restored 1976 Microbus - which is about to receive a 70kW, 200Nm electric motor transplant - so a varied collection. The new parts in the microbus conversion will be VW where ever possible - such as the gen 5 electronic accelerator pedal. The motor controller is watercooled but the elecric motor is aircooled - so a bit of both worlds!
