Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hey all, just a short intro...

I have been the owner of a '98 VR6 for 4 days now and love it. Although, at the moment the clutch and cooling system is being looked at by a mechanic - as of today, after the clutch pedal dropped to the floor when going to change gears. NRMA mechanic came out and leant on the cooling pipe while checking out the cable connected to the cluth pedal, coolant went everywhere then it was towed to the nearest machanic. The service from NRMA was average.

I'm still trying to work out who to take the car to going forward - have read good things about Camden GTI.

Anyway, looking forward to sharing info with other members.

    Some pics..

    Cheers
    Matt

How is the car treating you mate? The bloke you bought it off is a lifelong family friend and the same guy who got me into VR's while I was looking for my first car. Good coincidence that

Wow, small world, and your in Kensington too.

It's going really well mate, I've replaced a few broken pieces here and there but overall it's been very reliable.

The Montreal II wheels are being installed on Friday and I'll be picking up a set of leather seats on the weekend, with KW V1's going in next month.

Thanks for your input regarding the spacers in your thread to sell, from reading online some people were suggesting 3mm spacers were needed for the rear centre caps to go on. I'll see how they fit on Friday.
