Might I ask why you would want to do such a thing?

yeah sure is mate..got time, money wouldn't be an issue as i have a golf R that took a beating from the back...picked her up at an auction for 4k..would love to have the tsi engine in my vR6...

@STU i will not be changing the vr6 engine on mine,i will be getting another mk3 and transferring most of the stuff so il have the best of both in the mk3
the vr6 is unique, sounds like its on steroids, but the tsi engine to me would be the ultimate conversion

I'd say your biggest hurdles would be transmission / drive (4WD -> 2WD), ECU and associated electrics. AFAIK, these things won't even turn over unless all the critical systems on the CANBUS check out (like ABS/stability control and associated kit).

Yeah electrics would probably be quite tricky. Could you just run it on standalone management and not worry about all the original things? When it comes to that sort of stuff I have no idea, never really looked into it.

I imagine it would fit, probably need to fabricate some special mounts and whatnot. No idea what youd do as far as gearbox etc. I assume you wouldnt be attempting to convert the mk3 to awd, as that would be an absolute nightmare of a job. Anything can be done though with a bit of imagination, a handfull of money and a hell of a lot of spare time/patience. Id love to see this be done successfully, may aswekk build up that R motor while its out and such too and make it into a crazy beast of a car.

199kW/350Nm in a car that weighs ~150kg less than a Golf R (and only 2WD) would be mighty exciting as is

Unless you know something I dont there isnt a stand alone unit out there that can run FSI and be compatible with the Can-bus systems of the engine .

You could buy a stage 1 turbo and make the same kind of power ?

Mk3's have a completely different mounting for the engines, something mk4 onwards would be better suited to bolt it up
